Kalima Tayyibah
Word of Purity
کلمہ طیبہ — كلمة الطيبة
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
Transliteration
La ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah
اردو ترجمہ
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، حضرت محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے رسول ہیں
English Translation
There is no god but Allah, Muhammad (PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah.
Kalima Shahadah
Word of Testimony
کلمہ شہادت — كلمة الشهادة
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Transliteration
Ashhadu an la ilaha illallahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa Rasuluh
اردو ترجمہ
میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے بندے اور رسول ہیں
English Translation
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (PBUH) is His servant and Messenger.
Kalima Tamjeed
Word of Glorification
کلمہ تمجید — كلمة التمجيد
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَلَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ
Transliteration
Subhanallahi walhamdu lillahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azeem
اردو ترجمہ
اللہ پاک ہے اور تمام تعریفیں اللہ کے لیے ہیں اور اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور اللہ سب سے بڑا ہے اور اللہ تعالیٰ کے بغیر نہ کوئی طاقت ہے نہ قوت
English Translation
Glory be to Allah, and all praise be to Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Kalima Tauhid
Word of Oneness
کلمہ توحید — كلمة التوحيد
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ أَبَدًا أَبَدًا، ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ، بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Transliteration
La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamd, yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa hayyun la yamutu abadan abada, dul jalali wal ikram, biyadihil khair, wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer
اردو ترجمہ
اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں وہ اکیلا ہے اس کا کوئی شریک نہیں، اسی کی بادشاہی ہے اسی کے لیے حمد ہے، وہ زندہ کرتا ہے اور مارتا ہے اور وہ ہمیشہ زندہ ہے کبھی نہیں مرتا، عظمت و بزرگی والا ہے، اسی کے ہاتھ میں بھلائی ہے اور وہ ہر چیز پر قادر ہے
English Translation
There is no god but Allah. He is Alone. He has no partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death. And He is Ever Living, never dying. He is the Possessor of Majesty and Honor. In His hand is all goodness, and He has power over all things.
Kalima Istighfar
Word of Repentance
کلمہ استغفار — كلمة الاستغفار
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ رَبِّي مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ أَذْنَبْتُهُ عَمْدًا أَوْ خَطَأً سِرًّا أَوْ عَلَانِيَةً وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ الَّذِي أَعْلَمُ وَمِنَ الذَّنْبِ الَّذِي لَا أَعْلَمُ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ وَسَتَّارُ الْعُيُوبِ وَغَفَّارُ الذُّنُوبِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ
Transliteration
Astaghfirullaha rabbi min kulli dhanbin adhnabtuhu amdan aw khataan sirran aw alaniyatan wa atubu ilaihi minadh dhanbi alladhi alamu wa minadh dhanbi alladhi la alamu innaka anta allamul ghuyubi wa sattarul uyubi wa ghaffarudh dhunubi wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azeem
اردو ترجمہ
میں اپنے رب اللہ سے معافی مانگتا ہوں ہر اس گناہ سے جو میں نے جان بوجھ کر یا غلطی سے، چھپ کر یا کھلے عام کیا ہے، اور میں اس گناہ سے توبہ کرتا ہوں جو میں جانتا ہوں اور اس گناہ سے بھی جو میں نہیں جانتا، بے شک تو غیبوں کا جاننے والا ہے، عیبوں کو چھپانے والا ہے اور گناہوں کو معاف کرنے والا ہے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ کے بغیر نہ کوئی طاقت ہے نہ قوت
English Translation
I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn to Him in repentance from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Surely You are the Knower of the unseen, the Concealer of faults, and the Forgiver of sins. And there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Kalima Radde Kufr
Word of Rejecting Disbelief
کلمہ رد کفر — كلمة رد الكفر
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أُشْرِكَ بِكَ شَيْئًا وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِهِ وَأَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا لَا أَعْلَمُ بِهِ، تُبْتُ عَنْهُ وَتَبَرَّأْتُ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْمَعَاصِي كُلِّهَا، أَسْلَمْتُ وَآمَنْتُ وَأَقُولُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
Transliteration
Allahumma inni audhu bika min an ushrika bika shayyan wa ana alamu bihi wa astaghfiruka lima la alamu bihi tubtu anhu wa tabarratu minal kufri wal maasi kulliha aslamtu wa amantu wa aqulu la ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasulullah
اردو ترجمہ
اے اللہ! میں تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں اس بات سے کہ تیرے ساتھ کسی چیز کو شریک کروں اور میں اسے جانتا ہوں، اور میں تجھ سے معافی مانگتا ہوں اس چیز کے لیے جو میں نہیں جانتا، میں نے اس سے توبہ کی اور کفر اور تمام گناہوں سے بیزاری اختیار کی، میں نے اسلام قبول کر لیا اور ایمان لے آیا اور کہتا ہوں اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے رسول ہیں
English Translation
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from associating anything with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do not know. I repent from it, and I reject disbelief and all sins. I submit to You and I believe, and I declare: There is no god but Allah, Muhammad (PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah.
About the 6 Kalimas
The 6 Kalimas are declarations of faith that every Muslim should memorize and understand. They are widely taught in South Asian Islamic tradition and cover the fundamental beliefs of Islam: pure monotheism (Tayyibah), testimony of faith (Shahadah), glorification of Allah (Tamjeed), oneness of Allah (Tauhid), repentance (Istighfar), and rejection of disbelief (Radde Kufr).
