Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holiest month in Islam. It is the month in which the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Angel Jibreel (Gabriel).
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory upon every adult Muslim who is physically and mentally able. The fast involves abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and marital relations from dawn (Fajr) to sunset (Maghrib).
Ramadan is a month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from Hellfire. The rewards for good deeds are multiplied many times over. The gates of Jannah are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained.
