Sayyid al-Istighfar

Transliteration

English Translation

O Allah, You are my Lord. None has the right to be worshipped except You. You created me and I am Your servant. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.

About morning duas

Morning adhkar are short phrases of remembrance and supplication reported from the Prophet ﷺ for the start of the day, covering praise of Allah, seeking His protection, and asking for a good day.

They are commonly recited after the Fajr prayer or at some point in the morning. Books describe the preferred window slightly differently, so the exact timing is generally treated as flexible rather than fixed.

About the source

It is reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and/or Sahih Muslim, the two hadith collections that scholars rank highest for authenticity. The reference also cites Hisnul Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim), the popular compilation of daily supplications.
