Surah Al-FalaqBenefits & Virtues

Al-Falaq is a five-verse surah in which the believer seeks Allah's refuge from evil. With An-Nas it forms the Mu'awwidhatayn, the two surahs of seeking refuge.

What this surah teaches

  • 1Seeking refuge with the Lord of the daybreak from the evil of what He created.
  • 2Refuge from the evil of darkness when it settles, of those who blow on knots, and of the envier.
  • 3That protection is sought from Allah, not from the surah as an object.

How to read this page

We keep three things apart: what the Quran itself says, what is reported in hadith (with its collection and grading), and what is only popular practice. A virtue report describes a recommended deed and does not make it obligatory. For rulings or personal practice, ask a qualified scholar. Our approach is explained on the about page.
